Standby Generator Program on Hold for 2022

Due to supply chain constraints, the generator program will not be installing any additional standby generators for 2022.

If we have committed to installing a standby generator for you for the year 2022, we will have supply for those commitments. Beyond those, we will not be adding anymore members to the confirmed install list. We are, however, accepting submissions for interest in the program, and will add you to our list for when the supply chain constraints are no longer an issue. Thank you for your interest in the Yampa Valley Electric Association (YVEA) Standby Generator Program.

We offer Briggs & Stratton 12kW and 20kW Fortress generators with 10-year warranties. Our transfer switch is a Direct Power Transfer Switch and is exclusively offered by YVEA within our service territory. Installed costs range from $10,000 to $15,000. The Standby Generator program is offered to YVEA residential members who own the property on which the generator will be installed. The generators will be permanently installed and provide backup power for your entire home.

Other Frequently Asked Questions

  • The generators can be fueled with either natural gas or liquid propane. We work with a contractor that can install the gas lines.

  • There will be additional costs for underground trenching and conduit for all electric and gas work.

  • Electric meter socket upgrades may be needed for some installations. This could be an additional cost of approximately $500 to $1,000.

  • YVEA can only complete installations on residential services equal to or less than 200 amps.

  • Annual maintenance agreements are available for an additional fee through our certified contractors.

  • We require a 50% deposit to order the materials. Qualified YVEA members may obtain financing for 50% of the cost for 1 year at 5.5% interest. Member may also qualify for 3rd party financing through Synchrony Bank.

  • A $140 site visit can be requested to obtain a firm price quote. This fee is credited towards the purchase a generator.
